Though not very popular yet, MXF, short for Material Exchange Format, is an innovative video format and standard, as it is the result of the collaboration between multiple organizations and associations (including the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers - SMPTE) in their intent to create a file transfer format that doesn’t rely on specific compression schemes or platforms. The MXF files are considered to be the digital equivalent of the video tapes.
Aunsoft TransMXF is a powerful tool capable of converting MXF files to a large variety of other multimedia file formats. All the popular video formats are supported, including MP4, WMV, FLV, MKV, AVI, MPG, VOB, etc. One of the best things about this tool is the fact that it comes with a huge number of predefined output profiles, letting you convert the MXF files straight to the formats that are fully compatible with a large variety of portable devices (iPhone, iPod, iPad, Apple TV, PSP, PS3, Xbox 360, many types of smart phones, etc.), media players, video editing apps, disc burning tools, and so on. The huge number of supported formats and output profiles is truly impressive. I haven’t seen yet a video conversion tool that supports so many formats and profiles that it had to provide an embedded “search” function for facilitating the finding of the needed profile or format. There’s even the possibility to customize the list of profiles, which is a very nice feature as this list is very large and many users will probably feel the need to tweak and shrink it to their liking.
Though it supports a lot of profiles and formats, Aunsoft TransMXF also lets you customize the parameters of the output files in every detail. For example, it lets you change the bit rate, frame rate or sample rate of the output file to your liking, regardless of the selected output format. As you can see, Aunsoft TransMXF is a really powerful and comprehensive utility. Anyway, this doesn’t mean it’s difficult to use. On the contrary, it’s simple and easy to handle, as its interface is straightforward, intuitive and self-explanatory. Even complete beginners will be able to use this tool without any problem.
When it comes to downsides and flaws, there are no remarkable matters to criticize. Some minor slips are the facts that the interface cannot be resized and cannot be customized, as it currently supports only one single skin, and the fact that the “help” file is in fact an online link, so if you need to check the manual you have to make sure your Internet connection is active. Anyway, these are unimportant aspects that could be easily ignored. Overall, Aunsoft TransMXF proves to be a great tool that offers a lot of cool features and benefits. It converted the MXF files flawlessly during my testing, in a really short time, so the high conversion speed can also be added to the long list of benefits that this application offers.
Since the MXF files are not yet very popular, there’s also a lack of applications capable of converting files between this format and the more famous video formats. This lack of similar applications makes Aunsoft TransMXF even more desirable.
In an end note, if you ever need to convert MXF files to other formats, you may rest assured that Aunsoft TransMXF will help you get this job done; quickly, easily and without any problem.
